Jason and Bethany are both on leadership at my church, Catalyst, and not only are they two of friendliest and most generous people with their time and affection, they are also amazing parents. One of the things that made this session so much fun was watching the two of them interact with their kids. It wasn't about perfect posing or forced smiles (though, it didn't hurt that the kids were promised ice cream afterward). Our only plan was to document the personalities of each member of the family, and their interactions with one another, at this unique time in their life. Really, that's why I prefer lifestyle photography over traditional posed portraits. It's so much more fun to create photos with personality that tell a story.

The location for these photos was an overgrown path through berry bushes, trees, and a field of queen anne's lace, right behind their house. It would seem an odd place for a photo session, but it's exactly the type of place I like most for this type of photography. Other than being near their home, this path holds special significance to the Cseh family in that it's a place to which they often escape with their kids for a quick adventure, or to quench their regular craving for berries. I have a feeling that even if you've never met the Csehs, you'll have a pretty good impression of who they are after viewing these photos.
