As I write this, I am sitting on a balcony at the Napili Kai Beach Resort in Maui, looking out over a beautiful scenic view of the ocean. The last week has been an amazing break from the craziness of a very busy wedding season. The first few days I was here I attended a photography workshop that gave me some new ideas and direction for my life and business. Then I took a relaxing trip to the east side of the island, for a few days of exploring red and black sand beaches, hidden waterfalls, and ocean trails. I love the fact that I've woken up for the sunrise almost every day I've been here, and have even enjoyed a few worry free days of having no responsibilities (other than a few business related e-mails :-).

If you've been following my blog since June then you might remember Chase & Michelle's engagement story, and the trip we made to San Francisco to celebrate it. We didn't really have a chance to take photos during that short trip, so we decided to put aside one of the mornings here to create some images they'll be able to use for their wedding this coming August, and to hang on their walls after that.

For the first part of the session we headed up to the Honolua Bay area, where we found the perfect field for Chase and Michelle's engagement photos. We wanted to take advantage of our beautiful island surroundings, but not make the photos look too tropical and cheesy. They wanted something they could hang on the walls of their future home that was less a specific memory of one vacation, and more a representation of their relationship at this early chapter in their life together. I think we did a pretty good job of capturing that. What do you think?
